How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

On average, dermal fillers last from 6 to 12 months. However, the exact length of time depends on a number of variable factors, including:

  • Your Metabolism – If your metabolism is faster than most people’s, you may find that your body breaks down the chemicals in fillers more quickly. Conversely, if your metabolism is slower than average, your body may take longer to break down the chemicals.
  • Type of Dermal Fillers Used – Some fillers last longer than others. At Harley Street Dermal, we only use high-quality hyaluronic acid as this is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and is absorbed/broken down slowly over time.
  • Technique Employed – Experienced medical personnel, such as our own Dr Hayder Ria, possess the knowledge and skills to inject dermal fillers in exactly the right locations and at the perfect depth, helping them to achieve longer-lasting and more aesthetically pleasing results.

If you live in (or within easy reach of) London, please feel free to make an appointment at one of our clinics to discuss your dermal filler treatment plans with Dr Ria.

Different Types of Dermal Fillers

There are 3 different types of dermal fillers in common use today: calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), POLY-L-LACTIC (PLLA) and hyaluronic acid. As a natural humectant and a naturally occurring substance in the human body, hyaluronic acid is the dermal filler of choice in many advanced cosmetic clinics across the world, including here at Harley Street Dermal.
